The Birth House is a freestanding birth center and community clinic located in Bridgton, Maine. Attached to the nationally-recognized midwifery school Birthwise Midwifery School, the birth center aims to provide affordable, safe, client-centered care to all our clients.
The Birth House offers professional and affordable midwifery service, including free reproductive health exams (excluding lab fees), free prenatal and postnatal care, affordable natural delivery, childbirth education classes, and doula services.
Heidi Fillmore, CPM, NHCM has been practicing home birth in Southern Maine and the Eastern New Hampshire region since 1987. She was trained at the Midwifery Training Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is currently certified nationally as a CPM, holds her license to practice in New Hampshire, and is a member of the Maine Association of CPMs and the New Hampshire Midwives Association.
Heidi lives in Naples, Maine. She has two daughters, Hannah and Stella, born at home in 1990 and 1993. In addition to her midwifery practice, Heidi is Clinical Director of Birthwise Midwifery School, an accredited direct-entry midwifery training program also located in Bridgton, and is an avid gardener and baker.
Hannah Neumann is the midwifery student intern at The Birth House. She began studying at Birthwise in the fall of 2015. Prior to Birthwise, Hannah received a BA in Psychology from Bellarmine University. As an advanced student, she has completed the didactic portion of her professional training and has had the pleasure of assisting at 30 births. Hannah is a practitioner of the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy with advanced training in pre- and perinatal wellness.
